Music can greatly affect the intensity of your work out

If you are exercising without the use of music, then you might be missing out on getting the extra edge. Music can play a big role on your work out because it can influence how intense you are going to be. If you're listing to smooth jazz while sprinting, you will end up running slower. But if you're listening to rock and roll while doing the same activity, then you'll run faster.

If you've ever gone into a clothing store for teens, the music they play is upbeat and fast. This is subliminally influencing them to shop fast. Same thing happens when you are in a spin class. The instructor will use the music he/she plays to motivate you to work harder.
